Following the Government’s announcement on 22 February it will be possible for organised play to commence with effect from 29 March provided Covid numbers continue to fall. Subject to later confirmation by the Government that this date will indeed apply, Petanque England intend to use once again the Government’s approved ‘Play Safe Guidelines’ (currently suspended) enabling pétanque to be played by adults and under 18s without limits on numbers as long as venues can fully comply.
No-one should be playing petanque before that date unless it is informally in a public space (not a private venue) with members of their own household or in a public space as an informal recreational exercise between two individuals only who could be members of different households. Current lockdown restrictions do not allow the use of private venues or the playing of doubles or triples involving people from different households in any location (including public spaces). If you do this you could be subject to a fine.
We will provide more information to our members nearer the date following further advice received from Petanque England. For latest information on Petanque England’s “Roadmap to Return to Play”, please go to: https://www.petanque-england.uk/2021/02/23/the-roadmap-to-play/
