SCL Away to Oxshott

On 30^th August 2019 Handcross travelled to Oxshott for a must win match. Having won at Handcross and with a 9-point Cushion at the top of the table Oxshott would have confidence in winning the league. I picked a strong team including David Lark for his knowledge of the Oxshott terrain. Luckily, I picked correct and our fighting spirit delivered a nail-biting 3-2 victory.

Triples A was a tight match that finally went the way of Oxshott with Celia, Carol and Anne defeating Jane, Nigel and John 13-9 

Triples B saw a comprehensive win for Handcross with Tony, David and Bill securing a 13-0 score line against Trish, Barry and John.

At one game, all the doubles matches were critically important if we were to keep alive any hopes of promotion to Division 2.

Doubles E was the first match completed with the Handcross pairing of John and Bill speeding to a 13-2 victory over Barry and John 

Doubles D had the formidable Oxshott pairing of Trish and Celia taking on Tony and David. After Tony and David gelled so well in the triples and with David’s previous 6-A-Side experience playing for Oxshott it was an intriguing match in prospect. Handcross lost the 1^st end to 6 but a great fightback had them 12-11 up. Oxshott held the point with Handcross a good second about 4 inches to the front of the coche when Celia produced an excellent point dropping behind the coche to win 13-12.

Doubles C was all square between Jane and Nigel against Carol and Anne when we all went to cheer them on. It looked that Oxshott were on the ascendancy taking an 8-6 lead. At 11-9 to Handcross, Oxshott were holding before Nigel promoted Jane's front boule and his boule rolled to secure a hard fought 13-9 victory and the match.

Well done team we showed great determination on the night and our destiny is now in our hands
