NDL 2019 – Handcross Vs Oxshott Hotshots
Home match against Oshott Hotshots on 2nd April.
After being beaten 5 games to 4 in the 2018 final by the Hotshots we were determined to put up a good fight in our first match of the 2019 season.
Tony Capon, in his first league match, and David Lark romped to a great win. The other 2 games proved much closer with John and Brenda achieving a close win and Mike Stanton and Gerard just missing out.
In the next round Gerard and Mike failed to find their form, whilst the other matches were close. David and Tony ended up at 9 all when the dresses buzzer went off. Sadly, they lost the final end.
Having fought through hail and wind the teams were equal on 3 all at the end of round 2.
David and Tony were quickly dispatched, which meant the next 2 games needed to be won. Gerard and Mike came good and, after a brilliant start, John and Brenda struggled to get the last 2 points . However the buzzer went on 11/8 and the final end was taken by Handcross.
Hence Handcross won 5 games to 4.
Well done to the team and thanks to Gerard for our refreshments which were enjoyed along with friendly banter between the teams.
