NDL 2019 – Handcross Vs ABC Kirdford
Thursday 18th April 2019
Our first NDL away match was at Kirdford on 18th April. We were blessed with a beautiful evening with a full moon peeping out between the branches.
Unfortunately, it must have gone to our heads as we were thrashed in the first round. However, the tide turned in round 2. Maria and David Ransome won 13/8, Mike Greenaway and David Lark triumphed at the end winning 13/11 and thanks to some good pointing from Richard, he and Brenda won 13/5.
That left us with it all to play for in the last round. Richard and Brenda were first finished with a good 13/8 win. The other 2 games were nip and tuck to the end when things didn’t go our way. The buzzer went just as Maria and Dave went 1 down ending up losing 10/9. Having been so close, Mike and David had a bad end and were unable to pull back the points when the buzzer went finishing off at 9/5. Hence we lost 5 games to 4.
Thanks to all who played and well done to Richard playing in his first league match. We all enjoyed the good company and chat over the sandwiches at the end of the evening.
