Handcross Tops Div3 East

Congratulations to Team Captain Bill Mackrell for finally leading his team to the top of Div 3 East. 

Bill selected his teams from amongst a group of players, many of them new to league play and who were keen to take part. The season began positively with a  3-2 away win against Worthing Simpsons in April. As the team gained experience in playing on their various opponents' differing pistes they gained confidence in their play and an away win against Cranleigh Crougars finally secured their last played match of the season.

Speaking at the end of the season, Bill made the following statement:-

"Congratulations and thank you for all your efforts in enabling us to top the table. It was unfortunate that our last match was conceded but I am confident that the outcome would have been the same.I apologise to those that I have been unable to use, but thank you for being part of the squad.Promotion is not certain and there may be a playoff between the winners of Div 3 East and West; that will be decided by the powers that be.It has been a roller coaster ride leading the squad over the last 2 years. I wish my successor good fortune in the quest for the top."

We have since been led to believe that there will in fact be no play-off and that the team will deservedly be promoted to Division 2.

Congratulations Bill, for your perseverance in leading the team to the next Division. All the frustrations you suffered in chasing dates for re-arranged matches have finally paid off. Luckily our Southern Counties team will continue into the next season in Div 2 led by Justin Ellis.
