NDL – 2 home Wins against oxshott and bedouins
After some disappointing results, NDL have finally had 2 good home wins.
We played Oxshott Hawks on 6th June. Sue was back playing with Sean and the 2 of them scraped a win in their first game, followed by 2 excellent wins in games 2 and 3. The 2 Mikes were back together starting off with 2 resounding wins followed by a third which was much closer. Unfortunately, Gerard had to call in sick so I was a player short and, with most others unavailable, my Mike stepped in at the last minute. Never a good idea to pair couples, and our first 2 results showed that. After 2 losses , we were getting desperate, but in the end managed a good win! Hence, the final result was 7/2 to Handcross. Well done to all.
After losing away to Bedouins, we were determined to get our own back and we certainly did it in style with an 8/1 win to Handcross.
Sue and Sean were together again and notched up 3 good wins. Maria and Tony C had a bad start but managed to claw up to 10 points when they were finally beaten. Undeterred, they continued to win the next 2 games convincingly. Finally in the 3rd pair, Mike Stanton was pointing well but, at first, everything seemed to get shot out. However, he stuck at it and wore the shooter down! After 2 good wins, the third game was really close reaching 9 all. The time was up during the next end so it was all or nothing. Ball 6 of the opponents was right on target beating Mike’s brilliant first point. With 5 balls left, a decent shot was required. I not only hit that ball but several others leaving Mike’s ball which we added to, winning 13/9.

So at present, we are 3/2 up in matches.
We are away to Cranleigh in July.
