Anniversary Celebration Saturday 18 December 2021

Handcross Members Celebrate 25 Years Since the Club was Formed

Guests arrived in good time to mingle and chat amongst old and new friends whilst enjoying a celebratory drink before being summoned to their tables for dinner.

David opened the proceedings by welcoming everybody to this special event, especially to the Club's founder member, Glyn Alexander who would later be explaining the Club's first beginnings. The magician who had been mingling amongst those present before dinner would also be visiting tables whilst dinner took place.

As those present took their seats, hot dinners were served against a backdrop of silent movies of the club's activities in its very early years which Glyn had supplied for the occasion. Some members were evidently surprised to identify one or two who they could still recognise today!

Following dinner, newer members of the club were intrigued to listen to Glyn explain why and how the Club had been formed at the beginning, of all the fundraising which had taken place to raise money for a designated piste, and all the support which the local villagers had given to enable the Club to have the facility built in Handcross.

Having thanked Glyn for his interesting talk, David referred to the way that the Club had progressed over the years with many of our members now enjoying more competitive games and matches away from our home ground, many with excellent results. The Club also played in 2 competitive leagues in which we had gained considerable success. He hoped that the Club would continue to earn respect amongst its friends in the region. Handcross was renowned to be a very friendly club and he hoped we would continue to be so as well as continuing to achieve individual and team success playing at venues other than our own in the future.

As members danced the night away to the disco, the end of the evening soon arrived and it was time to go home.

It was a wonderful evening, which so many still talk about. A special 'Thank You' to David and Ann for all their efforts in arranging this special celebration.
