SCL Away to Adur

The evening started warm and bright, but as the sun disappeared and the floodlights came into play not only did the temperature drop but shadows became a problem. Play was on the 3 piste at the leisure centre end, the light from the leisure centre was awkward to those wearing glasses.

Triples B featured Jane and Nigel Sibbring along with Mike Stanton taking on Dougie Ford, Jeff Hobbs and David Fleck. The match was over extremely quickly with Handcross securing a 13-2 victory. 

Triples A pitted Maria Cocozza, Tony Capon and Bill Mackrell against Wendy Thompson, Mike and Sue Hyne. Handcross raced into a lead but stalled at 8-1. Both of the triples' teams B came to hassle us (oops sorry encourage us) but despite the friendly we went on to secure a 13-5 victory.

With one more win required for the match and bonus point team selection was vital as Adur had picked balanced pairings.

Doubles C had Mike and Maria secure a good 13-6 victory over Wendy Thomson and Dougie Ford. Dougie said after the match that although he had a couple of good shots the central floodlights were a distraction catching on his glasses.

Doubles D saw a jubilant Mike and Sue defeat Tony and Bill 13-9. Sue was beside herself when 4-0 down they secured their first ever 6-point end.

Doubles E had the tried and tested Jane and Nigel secure a 13-8 victory over David and Jeff.

The evening finished with all bar Nigel donning warmer clothing for a quick coffee and cake before returning home.
