Club Championships

The club championship competitions are open to all playing members of the club.  For the Singles and Doubles competitions entries are selected at random for the first-round games.  For the second-round (knockout) competition, individuals/teams are placed into ‘main’ or ‘plate’ leagues dependent on their first round results.

All members, old and new, whatever their ability, are encouraged to take part in the club championships.

Doubles Final in Play

24 players met up on a dank and dreary January morning to participate in the outstanding 2016 Doubles Championship competition.  David Leech had the unenviable task of placing pairs together in order to provide as even a balance as possible amongst the competing teams. The promise of Champagne and Christine's wonderful muffins spurred everybody on.

As the clouds began to lift and a watery sun attempted to shine, the games were underway with competitive play from all the teams. The final was eventually played out between the 2 highest scoring teams comprising Mike Stanton & Gerard Poirier; and Bill Mackrell & Glyn Alexander with the former eventually reaching a decisive win.

Dave Ransome was present to congratulate and award his Doubles Rose Bowl to winners Mike and Gerard.  Chairman David Leech presented cups to the winners and also to runners-up, Bill and Glyn.

Everybody taking part enjoyed the event, the additional bonus to a good day's play being lots of bubbly and ample supplies of Christine's delicious muffins.

The Chairman thanked all those who had contributed to make the event such a success, with special thanks to Christine for all her hard work.
